The Golden Globes are prestigious awards for appreciating cinematography produced in the past year. The 82nd Golden Globes Awards was held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills in January Here are the winners of the exciting Golden Globe event:
The winner for the best musical film-comedy was Emilia Pérez, a thrilling movie about a Mexican lawyer hired by a notorious cartel boss. Other nominees include “Anora”, “Challengers”, “A Real Pain”, “The Substance”, and “And Wicked”.
“The best-animated film, Flow”, is an enticing tale about Cat, who is forced to learn to work with others. Other challengers included “Inside Out 2”, “Memoir of a Snail”, “Moana 2”, “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance”, “Most Fowl”, and “The Wild Robot”.
The prize for cinematic and box office achievement was fiercely contested by Wicked, Alien: Romulus, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Deadpool & Wolverine, Gladiator I, Inside Out 2, Twisters, and The Wild Robot. Eventually, “Wicked,” a tale of two witches overcoming their differences, came on top.
Adrian Brody’s stellar depiction of László Tóth in “The Brutalist” won him the award for best actor. Nominees included Timothée Chalamet in “A Complete Unknown”, Daniel Craig in “Queer”, Colman Domingo from “Sing Sing”, Ralph Fiennes from “Conclave”, and Sebastian Stan in “The Apprentice”.
Kieran Culkin’s stunning performance in “A Real Pain” earned him the prestigious Best Supporting Actor award. Some nominations were Yura Borisov for “Anora”, Edward Norton, ”A Complete Unknown”, Guy Pearce in “The Brutalist”, Jeremy Strong from “The Apprentice” and Denzel Washington in “Gladiator II”
The competition for best TV series was fierce, with nominations including “The Diplomat”, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, “Squid Game”, “Slow Horses”, and “The Day of the Jackal”. Eventually, the historical drama “Shōgun” came out on top.
Shōgun won yet another award for the best TV actress in a drama. Anna Sawai’s thrilling portrayal of Lady Mariko brought tears to watchers, bringing her a well-deserved win. Other nominations include Kathy Bates in Matlock, Emma D’Arcy from House of the Dragon, Maya Erskine in “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, Keira Knightley from “Black Doves”, Keri Russell in “The Diplomat”
Hiroyuki Sanada’s stunning performance in “Shōgun” awarded him the prestigious Best TV Actor – Drama. Some nominations were Donald Glover for “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, Jake Gyllenhaal, ”Presumed Innocent”, Gary Oldmen “For Slow Horses”, Eddie Redmayne from “The Day of the Jackal” and Billy Bob Thornton in “Landman (Paramount)”.
The competition for Best TV actress-comedy or musical was fierce but Jean Smarts from the series “Hacks” won against other notable actresses. Kristine Bell from “Nobody Wants This”, Quinta Brunson in “Abbott Elementary”, Ayo Edebiri from “The Bear”, Selena Gomez in “Only Murders in the Building”, and Kathryn Hahn from “Agatha All Along.”
Ali Wong from “Single Lady”, won best TV stand-up comedy performance. The nominations included Jamie Foxx from “What Had Happened Was”, Nikki Glaser in “Someday You’ll Die”, Seth Meyers from “Dad Man Walking”, Adam Sandler in “Love You”, Ramy Youssef from “More Feelings”.
