On February 9th, 2025, one of the year’s greatest sporting events will occur: the Super Bowl. This highly anticipated event is one that all sports fans look forward to. The two best teams in the National Football League, the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, will face off in a championship game to decide who is truly the greatest team. But who are the star players to watch during the game?
Of course, there’s the Chiefs star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes is a two-time NFL MVP and has won the Super Bowl 3 times. He is regarded as one of the best quarterbacks of all time. Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 15-2 record this season, securing them the AFC #1 Seed. Mahomes played great this season, finishing the regular season with 3,928 passing yards and 26 touchdowns. Mahomes is a team leader and will fight hard to bring home Kansas City another Super Bowl title.
The Philadelphia Eagles also have a great quarterback. Jalen Hurts, led his team to an impressive 14-3 regular season record, earning them the NFC #2 Seed. Jalen Hurts had incredible stats throughout the regular season, finishing with 2,903 passing yards and 18 passing touchdowns. Jalen Hurts is a versatile quarterback who can throw the ball with incredible accurately while also being able to sprint out of the pocket. Overall, Jalen Hurts is talented and will strive to win the Super Bowl.
Another great player on the Chiefs is tight end Travis Kelce. Many people believe he is one of if not the best, tight end in the NFL. Kelce finished his season with 823 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Travis Kelce did not have a great year performance-wise compared to past seasons. Kelce’s poor performance seemed unusual to fans who were used to watching him dominate the field. Who knows if Travis Kelce can help support his team when they need him most in the Super Bowl?
Saquan Barkley, running back for the Eagles, is currently on track to be the NFL MVP alongside players like Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. This was by far Barkleys best season ever! He had incredible stats for a running back, finishing with 2,005 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. He is undoubtedly the best running back in the NFL and is also on track to be the first non-quarterback MVP since 2012 when Adrian Peterson won the title. It’s safe to say Barkley will indeed dominate the run game of the Super Bowl.
