Some great college football players are coming out of college right now. One of the amazing players was Travis Hunter, the 6’1 wide receiver, cornerback, and Heisman winner (given to the most outstanding college football player in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). Travis plays for the Colorado Buffaloes who are ranked 23rd in College Football. This allows him to be more versatile and have more NFL teams wanting him. In the 2024 season as a junior in college, he had 96 receptions, 1,258 yards, and 15 touchdowns. But some people have different thoughts about him.
Deion Sanders, a former NFL cornerback, punt returner, and current NFL coach says, “He’s going to do that—or they shouldn’t draft him,” Sanders said. “You can be creative. He doesn’t have to play every snap like here, but he needs to contribute on both sides of the ball. Imagine your best receiver sitting on the bench when you need to move the ball or your best corner off the field while the other team’s torching you.” Sanders thinks being a two-sided player won’t be helpful because you can get injured if you don’t play on the other side of the ball.
Moving on Ashton Jeanty, the 5’9 running back, supposedly the best in College Football. He plays for the Boise State Broncos who are ranked 9th in College Football. In the 2024 season as a junior in college, he had 374 carries, 2,601 yards, averaged 7 yards per carry, and 29 touchdowns. But, what surprised a lot of people is the fact that Ashton Jeanty said that he wanted to get drafted by the Dallas Cowboys once he’s out of college. He said in a recent interview, “I would love to play for the Cowboys.”
Next up, Cam Ward, a 6’2 quarterback, the highest-ranked quarterback in College Football. He plays for the Miami State Hurricanes and played his last season as a senior in the 2024 season. Where he had 454 passing attempts, 305 completions, 67.2% completion, and 4,313 yards, he threw only 7 interceptions and had 39 touchdowns. People think he is the most calm quarterback to ever play college football with clips of him standing flat-footed and calm because he has so much time in the pocket.
According to corner.bigblueinteractive.com, “There’s a reason why Cam is in Heisman contention. I have watched most of his games. He has some exceptional ability and great leadership skills. This guy can also carve you up when it comes to decision-making.” This shows that people love his calm and collectiveness when it comes to making the right decisions when throwing a pass.
So, there are a lot of great players coming and about to come out of college. And the three of them, Jeanty, Hunter, and Ward, have what it takes to play in the NFL and everyone is eagerly waiting to see what they can bring to the league.
