On September 13, 2024, three students from Fallon Middle School published a book on Amazon called Cryotherian Tales: Arctic Abyss. Nithin, Joshwyn, and Vishwak got bored during the summer and had an idea to write a story that would be interesting and could create a picture in the readers’ minds. The three of them worked together to get the book up and available to buy on Amazon. They contemplated the genre until they landed on fiction and wrote a story about a 12-year-old boy in a peculiar situation. He gets abducted by a monster and is teleported to the planet of Cryotheria.
“We just wanted to do something, have some fun, and experience this because it would also add to our college credits,” 7th grader Joshwyn Thalapathi said.
While all of them were inspired to write this book, each of them had a crucial part of the process that made it more efficient.
“I was the main editor and was mainly editing while the others were writing,” Nithin Prakash, an 8th grader at Fallon Middle School, stated.
They enjoyed writing the story so much that they decided to make it a series. They are planning to make two or three books in the series.
“We are working on the book,” 7th grader Vishwak Mamumurisaid, “it will come out in the next two to three months.”
While they wanted to continue the series to expand its capabilities they also had many challenges to face during the process.
“We barely had any time to write the book because we had to manage school and other extracurricular activities,” Nithin Prakash states.
Overall, the three of them had a lot of fun writing this book and are excited for their future projects together. They are working hard to release their next sequel and hope that it will be a better success than the first one. Some of their friends read the start of the book too and were interested in reading more of it. Students can buy or check out a preview of this book on Amazon or the Fallon Library.
