With new twists, turns, and mysteries, Enola Holmes 3 is coming out soon! Enola weaves her way through intrigue, a missing aristocrat, and her social life with as much skill as seen in the previous films. Enola Holmes, the sister of the more famous Sherlock Holmes, has shown that she has the wits to match her siblings, but can she solve her latest puzzle?
The new movie will feature a brand new conundrum with all of your favorite characters. Set in Malta, Enola will have to navigate through difficult puzzles involving a missing aristocrat, a secret society, political intrigue, and a growing romance with Tewkesbury. Even Enola’s older brother, Sherlock Holmes, is reluctantly added to the investigation. This storyline centers on Watson’s disappearance, and Sherlock and Enola traveling to Malta to try to find them.
Millie Bobby Brown will be returning to play Enola, and Henry Cavill will return to play Sherlock Holmes. Helena Bonham Carter, who played Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter movies, is acting as Enola’s mother, Eudoria Holmes. The main antagonist, Moriarty (who is female in the Enola Holmes series), is played by Sharon Duncan-Brewster, and fans are excited to see the second part of the Moriarty-Sherlock fight. A new character and actor is introduced to the set as well: Dr. Watson, played by Himesh Patel. Jack Thorne returns to write the script, based on the YA book series The Enola Holmes Mysteries by Nancy Springer, while Philip Barantini takes over as director, and is known for a more intense style.

Multiple delays occurred even before filming started. Prop complications combined with trouble filming created a load of new problems to solve, but that was just one issue they had to deal with. Some of these challenges were posed not by the film itself, but by food! While filming in Malta, a “fair few” of the cast members got food poisoning, which presented some unexpected delays and required creative workarounds. Additionally, parts of the script were rewritten or revised due to the difficulty of capturing a grown-up and mature Enola Holmes.
After the script revision, the cast finally began filming the final movie. Filming began in Malta in 2025, with production wrapping up in June 2025, ahead of a planned 2026 summer Netflix release. The film promises to be darker and aimed at a more mature audience, pushing Enola into greater danger as she struggles with family ties and her own independence.
