If you have recently searched for “67” on Google, you might have seen the website rock back and forth. This motion on the website mimics someone raising their hands up and down like in the “67” meme.
Recently, Gen Alpha kids created a meme called 67. This meme originates from the song “Doot Doot” by the American rapper Skrilla. Videos about “67” have spread around the world, leading many kids across the globe to start waving their hands and saying “67!” But does this so-called meme actually have a meaning to it?
Dictionary.com ranks 67 as the word of the year, as it has now entered the common zeitgeist. But if you dive deeper into the word’s meaning, it becomes clear that this meme is nonsensical. It means nothing! Other people in the media have even created other number slangs, such as “41”, “56”, “81”, so they can create even more memes.
So why is Google participating in this so-called meme? Many companies, such as airlines, have made their own 67 memes. Southwest Airlines has been offering special deals on $67 tickets throughout the month. For them, it is a marketing idea for families, especially since it is a great deal.
United Airlines has also tweeted on X that their flight number from Kona to Chicago is 67. Millions of people have reposted it or made videos about it, and it has spread across the media. Google has decided to hop on this 67 bandwagon by incorporating it into its search engine to make people laugh. Anything with 67 is guaranteed to grab kids’ attention.
Brainrot has come a long way, but hasn’t necessarily gotten better since Skibidi Toilet. 67 is one of the most popular memes, according to Top Five Trends in the Big 25. Since then, we have words such as “aura-farming”, “sigma”, and “Mewing” that the kids of Gen Alpha made up. To most adults, this means nonsense words that kids have made up. But to kids, it has a whole different meaning.
