Cars, also known as automobiles, are one of the biggest industries in the world and are a popular mode of transportation. Manufacturers release new models of their vehicles each year. Sometimes, automobile makers add more horsepower and torque and increase the acceleration. Torque is the measurement of how much force an engine produces. The more torque, the more force the engine produces. Horsepower is the measurement of how quickly an engine can produce power.
The Japanese automobile company Toyota has recently released a newer version of their Camry and Tacoma. The Camry is Toyota’s version of a four-door family sedan, which is longer than the compact Corolla. This car has new head and tail lights, a grille, and a slightly different body shape. Overall, the vehicle has not gone through a significant amount of changes to the exterior. 
In the interior, however, Toyota has changed the design by adding a larger screen when comparing the 2024 XSE version to the 2025 XSE version. With the touchscreen modification, Toyota has changed the look of the center console and the seats. The engine has gone through some changes as well. Toyota has waved goodbye to its V6 engine option in the XSE and replaced it with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder hybrid engine. The power in the new XSE has decreased from 301 horsepower to 232 horsepower. However, the new XSE hybrid has more power than the former 208 combined horsepower XSE hybrid. Toyota’s previous Camry XSE hybrid had a 0-60 acceleration of 7.4seconds. The new one has a lower acceleration time of sub-7 seconds. Though Toyota has not released the actual 0-60, many people have tested it and got below 7 seconds with the all-wheel drive model. Toyota has not only changed the Camry but has also changed the Tacoma. The new 2024 Tacoma has a new suspension, engine, and chassis. There are new lights and body styling. The truck features a bigger screen and an updated infotainment system. The interior has new adjustments with a modernized center console and rear charging ports. Toyota has upgraded the engine and transmission. Instead of a 6-speed automatic transmission, Toyota added two more gears to the car. As for the engine, the 2023 Tacoma TRD Sport had a 3.5 liter V6 engine, putting out 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. The new 2024 Tacoma TRD Sport has a 2.4 liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine and produces 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. Toyota has drastically increased the torque in the truck but left the horsepower the same. There is an acceleration upgrade as the 2024 Tacoma TRD Off-Road model does 0-60 mph in seven seconds, while the 2023 Tacoma TRD Off-Road did 0-60 miles per hour in 7.7 seconds.
The local car manufacturer, Tesla, recently released a new version of their popular Model 3 and a long-awaited Cybertruck. The Cybertruck is Tesla’s version of a pickup truck. This truck has stainless steel body panels and shatter-resistant glass that should withstand a 70 mph baseball. The inside of the Cybertruck is similar to most Tesla autos, which have a large screen and a minimalistic design. 
As for the motor, the Cybertruck’s AWD model with a dual motor generates 600 horsepower and 7,435 horsepower. The Cybertruck also comes in a three-motor Cyberbeast model that puts out 845 horsepower and 10,296 pound-feet of torque. The Cybertruck is a first, but the Model 3 is getting a new look. The latest generation of the Model 3 features a different headlight and tail light. The inside has a newer screen and a smaller rear screen where the passengers can view entertainment and control their temperature. Tesla removed the wood inside the car and added interior ambient lighting to make the car feel more luxurious. Finally, there are two new colors and a more extended range due to the aerodynamic change of the body. There are new suspensions to make the ride more comfortable. Although Tesla made these new changes, there were no major design adjustments to the body shape or the motor. The car used to and still will produce 394 horsepower and 377 pound-feet of torque in the long-range dual-motor version. The electric vehicle will also keep its dual motor 4.0 second 0-60 miles per hour acceleration.
German automobile company Mercedes-Benz, known for its luxury, has redesigned its sports car, the AMG GT 63. This car has the same engine as its predecessor, a twin-turbo 4.0 liter V8 engine. Although the AMG GT 63 has the same engine, the power in the car has increased compared to the 2021 AMG GT C. 
The new coupe has 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The previous model had 523 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque. This AMG has a new 9-speed automatic transmission, which has more than the model before with a 7-speed automatic. The new 2-door AMG GT has a longer and wider body and is a whopping 17 inches longer and 3 inches taller. With this extra length and height, the AMG GT 63 features a new optional 2+2 seating. The car has a new center display that matches the one inside an SL roadster and a new speedometer screen. As for the exterior, like all of the automobiles above, there is a new headlamp and tail light. Each of the lights features a new design of 3 oval-shaped mini-lights. There is a new body kit and body design. The car has wider wheel arches, a taller and wider grille, and aerodynamic styling that comes with the aero package. The all-wheel drive (AWD) system comes standard with both models, and there is a new anti-roll system. Instead of a traditional anti-roll bar, this new GT has a more reactive anti-roll system. It also has a new suspension and a driveshaft. The new driveshaft allows the driver to control where the power is, in the rear wheels, front wheels, or both. Mercedes is keeping their overall design for this car, but it has evolved since the 2021 model.
Another German car manufacturer has made changes to its cars. Porsche is recreating the mid-sized family SUV, the Macan. The new Macan is electric only, with dual motors producing 382 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque in its Macan 4 model. It is an improvement compared to the previous 2.0 I-4 engine in the Macan T model, which puts out 261 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
The Macan Turbo generates 576 horsepower and 833 pound-feet of torque from its dual motors. The new motors are more impressive than the 434 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque twin-turbo V6 engine in the Macan GTS. Porsche has taken a big step in the acceleration of the Macan as the new Macan Turbo has a quick 0-60 miles per hour in just 3.1 seconds. To compare, the Macan GTS from 2023 does the 0-60 in 4.3 seconds. The 2024 all-electric Macan comes with new air suspensions and rear steering that help shorten the radius of the car when it does a U-turn. Not only did the chassis get a redesign, but the exterior and interior received change. The exterior has a more modern redesign that consists of lights similar to the Taycan and a slightly taller, wider, and longer body than the previous model. Porsche also removed the roof spoiler on the car but added a retractable spoiler at the back trunk. Porsche has modernized its technology by adding a line full of screens and creating a cleaner look. One of the screens is for the driver and their digital speedometer. Ambient lighting also fills the center console and has features such as communication lighting that has different lighting when entering the car, leaving the car, or messing around with features of the vehicle. The back seats are more spacious and feature a new climate control. The trunk is more spacious, with a new capacity of 540 liters compared to the 488 liters of space in the 2023 model.
These are just a few new automobiles joining the road in 2024. Many car brands have updated and released new models. Some people are fans of them, some believe it is a second home, and some think cars are just cars. No matter what you believe, cars are a thing of the past, present, and future.
